Kent Resigns, Spares Himself Senate Trial
The news that embattled federal judge Samuel Kent has resigned --
he made it official on Thursday -- struck us as both unsurprising
and a bit disappointing. Kent had already been impeached by the
House and was awaiting a Senate trial to determine whether he
should be booted from the bench -- a trial the likes of which we'd
never seen before, and were, frankly, sort of eager to watch play
out.
Lawyers Battle Over Evidence in Impeached Judge's Trial
Lawyers for impeached Judge G. Thomas Porteous Jr. of the U.S.
District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana asked a
special U.S. Senate committee today not to allow certain evidence
in the judge's upcoming trial. The argument came on the same day a
federal judge in Washington, D.C., declined to intervene in the
Senate proceedings, and about a month before the Senate Impeachment
Trial Committee is scheduled to begin its weeklong trial of
Porteous on four articles of impeachment.

booking photo of Rod Blagojevich, who was arrested at his Chicago
home on Dec. 9, 2008 and later impeached and removed from

Key Evidence: Texas Judge Indicted on Bizarre Mischief Charges

Lone Star judge. Woody Ray Densen, a state district judge in
Houston, was indicted today by a Harris County grand jury on a
felony charge of criminal mischief after he was captured on video
tampering with his next-door neighborAcircs car.
