Unhappy With its U.S. News Ranking, GW Law Trims Night Program

According to a George Washington University newspaper, the GW Hatchet, the university's law school "took significantly fewer evening students this year in an attempt to combat an eight-place drop in the U.S. News and World Report Rankings."

Yale Tops Annual List of Best Law Schools
U.S. News & World Report on Thursday released its 2010 law school rankings, which undoubtedly will renew the ongoing conversation about the usefulness of the enterprise. There were few shakeups at the top of the list this year, with Yale, Harvard, Stanford and Columbia in the top four places. Critics have long faulted the rankings for being overly simplistic and unreflective of the unique strengths of schools. Penn State Named Top Party School
Penn State University is now the nation's No. 1 party school. The school known partly for its football tailgate weekends and fraternity and sorority scene snatched the title away from the University of Florida in the 2009 Princeton Review survey of 122,000 students nationwide. Florida, last year's winner, finished second in the annual survey released Monday.

Iraqi government officials today welcomed news that the last U.S. combat brigade had left the country, seeing it as a symbolic milestone in Washington's plans for a full withdrawal by the end of next year.
