Police say a Connecticut girl overheard her mother's screams during
sex and thought she was being assaulted, so she rounded up some
friends to attack the woman's companion. The 16-year-old girl, two
boys and a 19-year-old man were arrested Tuesday and arraigned
Wednesday on assault and conspiracy charges.

Ohio Court Ruling Could Change Dog Bite Lawsuits
In a case from northeast Ohio's Summit County, the court ruled 5-2
Wednesday that owners may be sued both under the state's dog bite
law and for more general negligence.The decision is a victory for
the family of a 12-year-old girl who was mauled by a dog and was
hurt on the head.A trial judge had allowed the girl's mother to sue
the owners only under the dog bite statute, limiting the money
award in the case. The jury awarded compensatory damages of $5,000

Mom Charged With Murder in River Boys' Deaths
A 29-year-old South Carolina mother has been
charged with murder after investigators said she confessed to
suffocating her two young boys then faking an automobile accident
to make it appear they drowned in her car submerged in a river.
Shaquan Duley, 29, told police that she killed the two boys with
her hands after an argument with her mother about how she was

NC woman accused of hiding corpse appears in court
A woman accused of hiding her elderly mother's corpse for seven
months in the family's North Carolina home asked Thursday for a
court-appointed defense attorney.Amy Stewart made her first court
appearance before a district court judge in Wilmington.The
47-year-old did not enter a plea. She was charged Wednesday with
concealing a dead body, a felony. Stewart posted bond and was
released from jail.Police responded to the family's home Tuesday
after receiving a 911 call and found the body of Stewart's
87-year-old mother, Blanche Matilda Roth, in a bedroom. Police
