A Brooklyn man claiming the NYPD was negligent in protecting him from getting shot files a lawsuit in Queens County; reports a New York Personal Injury Lawyer
Brooklyn resident Matthew Ortiz was enjoying the Italian Feast in September, 2008 when he was shot in the leg. The popular feast is an annual occurrence in Ridgewood, Queens NY. Ortiz claims there was numerous riots and the police in the area were not handling it adequately. The lawsuit brought by a New York Injury Lawyer alleges that the NYPD was negligent in their duty to protect and serve because the same riot situation kept repeating itself through out the night. He further argues that had they been more effective, he would not have suffered the injury. Reports do not state the extent of Ortiz’s injury, or if any surgery had to be performed on him. If you should find yourself in a situation like this, you would be wise to seek the help of a New York Injury Lawyer.
